Paths You Walk

2024–2026 · The New Art Gallery Walsall

Large-format photographs and a three-part film built from oral testimony gathered in Caldmore, Palfrey, Pleck, and The Butts. A Heritage Lottery Fund commission, exhibiting at The New Art Gallery Walsall to 12 July 2026.

After the Storm: Butts Road, Walsall during the 1962 Big Freeze. Deep snow on the road, period shopfronts lit from inside, a solitary figure standing in the white.

Five photographic tableaux drawing on local folklore, archival research, and family testimony, recreating scenes from the 1960s and 70s as economic migrants arrived in Sandwell.

Dayshift: a cluster of Black Country terraced houses at night, lit windows showing scenes inside, figures gathered in back gardens, factory chimneys silhouetted on the horizon.
