Pallant House Gallery, Chichester & London College of Fashion, Stratford
Billy Dosanjh's large-format photographic tableaux from The Exiles series were selected for the 20/20 group exhibition, curated by Ekow Eshun. The show brought together twenty artists working across photography, film, and mixed media to reflect on identity, migration, and belonging in contemporary Britain.
The exhibition opened at Pallant House Gallery in Chichester — one of the UK's leading collections of modern British art — in November 2025, before touring to the London College of Fashion (UAL) gallery space in Stratford, East London.
Dosanjh's contribution centred on Dayshift and Furnace Men, two of the five large-format composite tableaux that comprise The Exiles. These works — each assembled from hundreds of individual source photographs — reconstruct scenes of domestic and industrial life experienced by South Asian empire workers who settled in the Black Country during the 1960s.
